Buildix + Maven2

I've been spending a few days working with Buildix (cruise control, subversion) and maven2 recently. I would like to share my experiences with them here.

First at all, I have installed VMWare server (free for dev use) into one of the Dev Box in my company (yes, my company is a windows-based company). I downloaded the Buildix VMWare images and installed it into the VMWare server. Everything is pretty straight forward.

If you have install knoppix on your HD, the default locale in Buildix is UK, unless you live there, otherwise you need to change the locale.

look for lang=uk in the file /etc/lilo.conf

Knoppix will use DHCP to acquire the IP address for your sever, if you don't want to use dhcp, use netcardconfig, ifup/ifdown doesn't work for some reason.

(made sure you can connect to the internet because maven2 requires to download some libraries from the public repo)

One more thing ... If you are running VMWare, you will notice system time is lagging about 30s per min. In order to fix this, you need to edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst and search for the line kernal. Add parameters clock=pit nosmp noapic nolapic.

To Be Continued.......

Goodbye Castle Hill

I've recently moved from Castle Hill to the CBD. Everyone ask me is it because I'm sick with the transport system in system. My answer is No. I really enjoying my life living in Castle Hill indeed. I love the lifestyles there. Peoples are friendly, Air is fresh.

This is a simply a tax strategics move. I can get negative gearing when I rent my place. I've also setup my own company, so I can claim for home office for my new home in the city.

I move to Kent St now and it is only few minutes walk to my office. Btw, I've just completed by second contract with MBF and I now work for Michael Page.

Goodbye to Castle Hill for now and I'm sure I will be back few years later.

I will never buy any insurance from GIO

I have setup my own company, Webponent just then, so far every things are good. Matthew (my accountant) is really helpful. I got my workers compensation insurance from GIO and they sent me the invoice few days later. I found out that the don't take credit card, therefore I want to cancel it because all of the other insurers does take credit card. They should tell me before I purchase it and told me that I have already accepted the terms and conditions over the phone. I swear, no matter what, I will never get any insurance from GIO.
